About the Music

The discography of Finbarr Massi serves as a public archive of a rapidly evolving sonic identity. The debut album, Gener8, was a focused exploration of electronic music through the specific lens of progressive house, prioritizing rhythmic consistency and melodic builds. It established a foundation for the project in the Atlanta scene, but the releases following that debut represent a significant shift in creative philosophy.

As we move through the 2026 release calendar toward the full album launch in July, the music has evolved into a more experimental fusion. Tracks like 'Anonymity' and 'Silent Subscriber', both out 7 April 2026, demonstrate a commitment to pushing the boundaries of electronic music. Rather than adhering to a single genre, the current output intentionally fuses diverse elements to create more intricate and unexpected textures. This evolution is about taking the structural lessons of earlier work and blending them with new, machine-aided synthesis techniques to produce something truly distinct.

This journey of sound design will culminate in the July release of the complete album, titled Synthetic Sonder. Each monthly single leading up to that date is a building block in a larger narrative, showcasing how the Finbarr Massi project is constantly refining its approach to production. By exploring these various sonic intersections, the project invites listeners to experience the transition from traditional arrangements to a more complex, hybrid style. This collection on the Music page is a living history of that growth, documenting the transition from the foundations of Gener8 to the forward-thinking compositions that define the project’s current and future trajectory.
